ANCHORAGE ALASKA 2010 - Leaving for the land extreme.

Whether you move or man, to leave your own town, to leave family and friends to go to lochia away over hill and dale if not the natural beauty of the world?
LEONARDO DA VINCI

So we again, ready to leave for yet another adventure on horseback of the inseparable "all black" on two wheels. Another stop, the last in-game trip "to the four corners of the world" (after Tasmania and Patagonia), this time I will bring in the wild lands of 'Alaska has always imagined and dreamed along the edge of the tales of Jack London, the epic exploits of the gold rush and pioneer of the century.
Less than two at the start and as always the tension is strong, the house full of luggage that have yet to find a summary: "I put the shirt in more or not? Gee, if I load all 'is not even stuff the bike is moving .. .. " And so on until such time as you turn the key, then the die is cast, and from then on it was on the road.
However the head is already over the ocean, imagine the places and situations, and everything will be.
But just to start this blog, officially opened last night with the qualified advice of fellow travelers, wires and Giang, here's to all future "blog buddies" a preview on the path.
Sunday after approx. 12 h. flight will arrive in Anchorage, Alaska only real city with its 300,000 inhabitants (but not the capital, which is rather Juneau - 30,000 pop. - where the ferry will arrive in mid-trip). Here
spend the day to fix a bike and luggage, do supply of food and try all you need to guard against too close encounters with friends bears.
Then the next morning at 7 am, loaded the bike into the bus and I wait for 6 h. by bus to the entrance of Denali Park in the heart of the wilderness alaskiana, where I'll go for a stroll on the bike for a couple of days.
From here I will start riding to the south-east for my crossing that can be divided roughly into three sections (take a look at the cards I've attached).
1 - ACROSS ALASKA: approx. 1,400 km. along the Alaska Highway that cut the territory - including a crossing of approx. 200 km. Yukon Canada - of which the first part largely untouched along the 135 miles of unpaved Denali Highway, with only a foothold in the middle.
This section ends in the village of Haines, Alaska where the mainland ends and the road which stops in front of the ocean.
2 - INSIDE PASSAGE: and here begins the most "tourist" of my trip, because I will scarrozza Alaskan ferry for three days by Marin H.way that across the whole island in Southeast Alaska through islands and fjords. First
short stretch of approx. 6 h. from Haines to Juneau, the capital reachable only by boat, where I will stay one night and then off with another boat for more than 20 h. navigation to Prince Rupert, now in British Columbia in Canada.
Another night of rest and then again 15 h. by boat (but it's a bike trip or a cruise ...?") to Port Hardy at the northern end of Vancouver Island - Canada.
3 - Vancouver Island and Sunshine Coast: Approx. 500 km. And so our hero finally rest with your legs (the stomach, perhaps a bit less) will continue to pedal south through the endless forests of Vancouver Island, the largest island in North America for the last part of the trip.
arrived in mid-island I will have two options: continue to the end of the island and from there to Victoria ferry to Vancouver where I expect the return flight or ferry to Comox to Powell River on the Canadian mainland, and from there the coast segura to Vancouver along the so-called "Sunshine Coast".
I am convinced that at this point of the journey I have already caught a lot of water so that the name "Sunshine Coast" will exert an irresistible fascination for me, even though conventional wisdom says that right is still not that glitters ... .

Well, if so then I'll be able to dodge bears, wolverines and wolves, not to be gnawed by the voracious "Mussatto" alaskiani (but on this point, we pride ourselves an experience of the Venetian lagoon), not to melt between Arctic persistent rain and not get lost in some endless forest, I can finally get on the flight back to my house, full of images, feelings and experiences.
It will certainly be so, and I hope along the way (internet point permitting) to have the opportunity to bring as much as possible and share with you all the wonders of those latitudes.
stop now that you do on your luggage.
hug you all and see you soon in the pages of the blog.
Angeloinbici.
