What the spirit seeks, the mind will follow

Doubtul The Sound (which you see in the photo), owes its name to Captain Cook, who in 1770 discovered it and, unwittingly, gave him the name he preferred watching the sea, in fact, not to venture inside , expressing doubt (doubtful) the possibility that the winds inside the fjord could then push the ship back to sea.
The Doubtful Sound is the second largest fjord in the Fiordland region (the largest national park in New Zealand).
To get there, you have to cross Lake Manapouri and already just watching this, just in my heart

for the beauty and peace that emerges from his water (which I imagine the cold, but not too much) and the imposing mountains that rise from its banks.

After the crossing, a short bus ride along the way world's most expensive ($ 5 each 2 cm), through an amazing forest full of ferns, to pass the Wilmot Pass and finally it was on the catamaran, on which crosses the Doubtful Sound.

While browsing the Doubtful Sound, everything seems awfully small and distant.
face of this marvel of nature, nothing is more important. Even your own life, which until a moment before it seemed at the center of the universe, seems an awful tight.
At the same time, just look at the landscape scroll, gives you a sense of peace that almost moves you (even without the almost, I will tell you), like "Was there nothing to fear nothing to doubt" (to put it in loan).

Moving on to more earthly matters, Doubtful is also the perfect natural habitat for seals

whose main aim during the day, you sleep and relax on the rocks (the good life !), feeding at night. In
Doubtful, we also saw dolphins, but especially the rare Fiordland Crested Penguin, penguin characterized by a crest of yellow around the eyes (which told me to greet his friend from Modena,: P)

but mica is over here .
After that you're almost stunned by the power of nature, who decide to remember here is that human intelligence and skill is not far behind and take you through a tunnel of two kilometers literally carved into the granite of the mountain, to the Manapouri Power Station. This hydropower plant is located 176 meters below the level of Lake Manapouri, which uses water (500 cubic meters per second, enough to fill 80 Olympic swimming pools in one minute) to generate electricity. Work began in 1963, was completed only in 1971.
On 22 October 1962, the Minister of Justice was invited into the tunnel to operate the symbolic last "bang" of dynamite to complete the tunnel ...
Well, the dynamite used, evidently, was a bit 'too much, because this was the hilarious result

occasion, no one was hurt (and during the excavations, because of conditions work, to say the least extreme and dangerous 12 workmen who died are remembered in the tunnel).

Tomorrow, I'll do not know yet, but I'm going to enjoy Te Anau, I seem to have a great place (neither too small nor too large) and full of things to do, but also, as they say here, laid back, relaxed and calm.
day after tomorrow, I'm going to see another fjord, the most famous and popular Milford Sound. I will let you know which of the two fjords is best.
Meanwhile, a little 'peace of Doubtful Sound (and a bit' of his silence) will reach all.
